The Deity of Jesus Christ

Mark 8:27, 28 - Whom do men say that I am?

John 8: 25 – 58 - Then said they unto him, Who art thou? … Who do you think you are?...Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. (I am means self-existing)

Luke 23:3 Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews?

Clearly, the above scriptures indicate that there was quite a bit of buzz in Israel concerning the identity of Jesus. People wanted to know who he really was since it was clear that he was totally unique. Even, John the Baptist who had previously introduced him as the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, perhaps because of his imprisonment, later wondered:

Matt. 11: 23 - And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

The best way to answer the question about the deity of Jesus is to simply let the bible speak for itself. Even people who deny the deity of Christ must concede that an infinite Creator could express himself as the person of Jesus Christ if he wanted to. I believe that is exactly what happened as the bible overwhelmingly confirms.

Many scriptures have been changed to try and sever the relationship between Jesus and his deity in the godhead so as to reduce his authority and possibly make room for another earthly mediator between God and man.
